Unlimitedd Mom is dedicated to helping working moms recognize and value all facets of their lives; including their families, their work and their personal development.
My name is Sue Dickinson and I publish the weekly Unlimited Mom Newsletter. During the day, I work full time at a "major" financial institution as a Real Estate Paralegal. My job is challenging, but not out of control hours wise. And, we get bank holidays off! I have a great husband, Marty (who is the web guru behind this site) and a four year old boy, Douglas. Douglas attends daycare/preschool at a local church school in town, where they have been teaching him better than I ever could (although I do try to reinforce what they teach) all of those important social and intellectual skills you need to survive in this world.
Now that we are out of diapers and baby bottles, I am finally taking time to look back on the past four years and realize how much my life has changed. I would wholeheartedly say it has changed for the better, but I also realize that I have spent so much of the last four years learning to be a mom that I have neglected time to learn how to be me.
But time doesn't stand still. Someday, Douglas will leave home and I will again have all kinds of time on my hands. My new goal is to be ready. Not because I am looking forward to it with regret over where I am right now. Far from it!
But life is like a river. It keeps moving and changing. I want my son to know that and be prepared. I want him to see the benefit of keeping your mind alert and your options open. I want him to look at life and all it has to offer with excitement and the knowledge that if you want it, it can be yours.
That's not to say achieving a goal will be easy. It will take work and focus and belief in yourself. But dreams can come true. By investing in yourself, and surrounding yourself with people who believe the same thing, you can make it happen for yourself and your family. That is what Unlimited Mom is all about.
